Final Blog Assignment: Honest Reflection of EDM 310
I enjoyed audacity. That program made me feel professional with voice audio intertwined with music. AWESOME! I especially enjoyed Google Earth that is after I established what to do. It took me out of reality and for the time I was exploring my destination and I actually felt like I was traveling. If nothing else it was a technology task new to me and I think I just may have mastered it. I recommend this project to all history teachers. I think kids would love working within Google Earth.
Comment for Teachers and for Kids was enlightening to see what my co-workers and kids the age of my son are actually constructing. Academically, the U.S. is way behind and commenting for kids inspired me to teach my six year old things that will enhance him academically.
Prior to this class I thought I was technologically literate. I was not. I knew of the basics but this class exposed me to so much more. I know I will incorporate all of these into my personal classroom. All of which I have learned will empower my students and give them a sense of academic independence. My students will grow and enhance. I will definitely stay engaged
with all of these programs and in hopes I will grow and enhance while finding different and easier avenues to complete each task.
The one major flaw I had with this class was knowing whether or not I had a correct understanding of each task. I often wished not that the work load was lighter because seeing as how I was so far behind and manage to catch up and complete each assignment only determined that the work load was not difficult. However, I often wanted the instructors to walk us through the assignments so that we knew what to look for and an understanding of directions. Without the understanding and direction the assignments became foreign and time consuming. I am currently working on my professional blog which is a tad bit difficult and time consuming yet I am so excited to complete.
The one thing this class was not was boring!
I would change one thing about EDM 310. More student teacher interaction, less instruction, and more educating. There is a huge difference in teaching and educating. One whom educates appeals to all individuals within the class based upon, race and gender. This class did not do such and this is an problem within the educational system that steadily exits.
Have a Great Summer!

Project 7: VoiceThread or Vocaroo
Project 6: Report on Skype Use
Project 8: Teaching someone using technology
Project 5: Survey
5 people felt as if it all depends on the individual in regards to maturity
3 felt like age was a great factor in maturity
1 felt clearly age did not determine an individuals maturity
All nine participants agreed that a large part of maturity takes place between the age 20 to 30 years of age.
5 people felt one should be mature between 2o to 25 years of age.
4 people feel one should be mature between 25 to 30 years of age.
6 people feel outside influence encourages individual maturity
3 people responded that parents influence is what promotes individual maturity.
One of the response was not sure when they matured. Strange! However, two of the people responded they matured as teenagers. One was 18 and one was 19. My apologies, a young lady responded that she became married at 17 and shortly after she became a mother. She does not regret her experience for anything. She felt as if she had no other reason but to grow up. The other 5 were 21 and older and basically recall moving out on their own or life's circumstances forced them to mature.
My personal reflections are it takes many situations to mature. Different strokes for different folks. I am 29 years of age and I am at my most mature to the date. I take responsibility for myself, my loved ones, and my endeavors. Yet, I have a best-friend that is 21 years of age that is my mother and keeps me grounded when I become sparatic. I enjoyed all the responses and personal views. If you want to view my survey CLICK HERE.

The resources available for teachers on Alex include, courses of study, weblinks, lesson plans, search engine, personal workspace, professional learning development, podcast treasury and a help search engine. The speech also was very inspiring because he motivates you throughout the speech about following you dreams. He does not feel anyone should not have dreams and not follow their dreams. He feels everyone should try to be happy everyday of their life and keep the negativity out of your life. He encourages everyone to strive hard at what ever dream your pursue and be the best you can at whatever you be.
Through his speech he tells many stories about his parents and how he blessed to have had such great, inspiring, and caring parents in his life. He talks about how strong and encouraging his father was. His father always talked to him about be the best you can be and to always find a way to help others. He also was told by his father to put others first. His father taught him to love and care for his family and to put God first.
Mr. Pausch was giving his last speech to an audience who was under the impression the speech was an inspirational speech for them but in turn it was intentionally given for Mr. Pausch children. This misinterpretation goes back to what Mr. Pausch stated in the beginning of his speech about when you are trying to teach a lesson have your audience think they are learning something else and in the end they will have learned the intended lesson.

This 7th grader is very much in tune with her technological abilities. I barely knew of a typewriter in the 7th grade. The most important thing I noticed is how organized her thoughts were. Organization plays a big key to academic success. I have always been strong academically but I have to focus for organization. Plus, not any science class I know requires no book and pencil. Learning for this young lady is enticing and their is nothing foreign about her scenery. It is when you take a child from a textbook environment to a electronic environment is what proposes a difficult task in change. I definitely need to increase the organization of my personal learning environment and my academic task may possibly be complete on time. To view this video click here.
Two Questions that Can Change your Life
I loved this movie. Made me think. What is my sentence? Was I better today than I was yesterday? I quickly thought about my sentence. I feel like my sentence is positive but it can always be better. The second sentence is one I live by. I feel like every individual should seek the answer to the second question. It is detailed personal evolution. It is a sure way to derail failure. Well done! It was valuable reminder that anything can be traced through a PC, desktop, or server. Is there a need to lie; not at all. I just feel individuals such as myself feel better to see an allusion of structure in writing. It is almost an confirmation of failure to affirm to not completing assignments. No one wants to except being a slacker or being behind. Yet, honesty is always the best policy. No one blog, class, or seminar will change all groups of people associated to the topic but change is an option. I start the change with me. I fell behind in class. I did not put my all into every assignment but the assignments of interest I put great effort into. If I knew how to complete the assignment I attacked it head on. If the assignment was foreign I made an excuse to avoid. I appreciate all the deadline extension by Dr. Strange to allow me an opportunity to get caught up.
Yet, as an instructor, Dr. Strange I request that you allow more visual instructions and visual instructions. Some individuals need that. If the students are the main objective; as educator then it is our place to appeal to all students and not just some.
Humbly Submitted!

The 3rd attempt to post my April 11, 2010 blog post
My most favorable video was Student Video Messages to President Obama. This particular link will guide you to personalized videos to the President Barack Obama. These students are from Amherst Middle School in Buffalo, NY. The amazing part of this video is their middle school students and they have done more with technology than I have done as a second degree seeking college student. The tape was in depth and the students seemed enthused to create it. The students along with their awesome technology teacher, Rob Zdrojewski was instrumental in creating a sight which link these students to me and others including the president himself. After watching this film, I can help but to wonder has the president viewed this film and if not then he definitely should. Seeing as how the president and I are twitter friends, I am going to inform him of this link.
I absolutely loved the cartoons about The Zax's. It is unfortunate that their are individuals actually that stubborn. The world was very mediocre and familiar to the Zax's but the world kept growing and growing until an entire city was established around the Zax's stubbornness. This is an representation of educational growth. Whether we as educator's want to believe it or not; we can either keep up or we as an system will be left standing in one position while education enhances around us. One can view this link at.
I take it that I don't value the need for kids to use blogs, twitter, or other networks. I know it reflects how I was raised and educationally brought up. I see the children choir sing, "Landslide" and it was nice. I actually did not get an overwhelming feeling. Many groups since the composing of this song as reinvented the musical aspect of the song. This assignment made me seek other ways of posing audio posts or video posts as of importance. I came across a film I visited earlier on in the class , a Vision of Students. The video was actually created by college students and their interpretation of a college experience. During the film I mentally compared past educational method such as books and black boards to modern education such as smart boards and web pages. I need to catch up within my mentality because our system is a definitely changing strictly for advancement.
I came across Education Today and Tomorrow. I love this film and it reminded me why technology is so important. In every profession to date one must have technological abilities. It is hard to understand this from a observant standpoint but the film was a cup of coffee. Times are a changing. The film showed a 430 pound juke box with 503 songs and compared it to an I pod only a couple of ounces with over a thousand songs. Go Figure! If that isn't an reflection of the change of times then what is.

April 4, 2010 Blog Post Assignment
I take voicethread, blogging, and network real lightly. Is that wrong? I don't see how this will help my classroom nor enhance my student academically. All will definitely enhance technically but how sufficient is that. I don't see voicethread being used much professionally and blogging is an exchange of ideas or more so keeping a journal of your thoughts. One blog is nor more sufficient that the rest. Certain topics interests certain people so not that I read my own thoughts I can see some benefit of networking. Yet, how much of this networking is true and how much is false?
I seek that someone reading this blog will point out the plus to the twitter episode with the man, his daughter, and the different schools. I seek clarity with voicethread. Other than different nationalities coming together and gaining knowledge of a different way of living I am unable to see the benefit.

Personally, after watching Mr. Richard Miller's film, I see this multimedia writing being too difficult to grasp. I find it tremendously interesting never the less!!! I propose that maybe multimedia writing be offered to advanced High school seniors as an elective yet not as a requirement. After which, definitely making it a undergrad requirement. The concepts are difficult and not all households are available to the needs to complete multimedia writing.
The purpose of multimedia writing is to enhance one technology knowledge but the material is already available and I see this as being redundant. I only see this as a different way of preparing a research paper or a avenue of exposing individual thoughts which can be done through e-mail or publications. Mr. Miller spoke of his film's as a must but I did not hear of a purpose. What will one gain from multimedia writing?
There is already a laziness within our youth when it comes to reading and writing. Multimedia writing, in my opinion, will only add to that. I see this as an asset for those with learning disabilities but I also see the need to learning how to read. If everything academically can be done from the click of a mouse from a PC or computer then the fundamentals of education is lost. Yet, I guess one would have to read to even know if the information their piecing together is viable. I simply have doubts to this technology based technique to writing. I am an educator not prepared to move forward with this idea.

Connectivism is a plus only because one individual tends to learn from another. The connectivism is influenced based upon admiration or seeing how another made a mistake. Once a topic or subject is presented it is interesting to see how one individual gained knowledge from that topic based upon another individual's interpretation. We all take something different from a subject. It is road to gathering information from others.
Presenting this idea to Middle School students is of an advantage. It is beneficial to our youth not to be afraid to ask a question or seek another's opinion. Operating a computer or PC is a must in this day and connectivism is a great way of exposure. Blogs, videos, and forum's are informative. Face book, Myspace, Twitter, etc. are an avenue to express new ideas. I personally feel this is how network sites originated.
I appreciate what connectivism represents. The avenue to discuss, agree to disagree, and blend ideas is what our youth should see. It is a way of meeting different individuals of race and culture. Connecitvism is also a way to navigate and learn to adapt to different ways of viewing a situation or subject matter. I am all for this!!! Lets hear more!

This video basically discussed the changes over time. At one point, individuals wanted to do everything, change everything, and correct all that was wrong while enhancing all that is right. Today, everything is basically operational and ran by technology. Instead individuals have gone from wanting to input their ideas and self and now we reside less on others and more on the internet. An example is once upon a time if one was in search of a phone number we would phone each other up. Later came the telephone book, and even better
A simple telephone number is only a keyboard/PC away.
Theory is the most intelligent people in the world created media and technology. I personally once felt the same way yet after watching the film I see that as narcissistic thinking. No one person is that important nor that technology. The glitches and complications should express just that.
The value for individual worth is perpetuated by all the false means such as how known are we as an individual. Self fulfillment is what one is seeking. Your conversation and what you belong to is what validates an individual. All of which ties to new media and new technology. That one is known as the next big thing. This film was a little hear and there for me yet I take the understanding of not all media/technological attention is worth it and not all of these methods are created to better our individual existence. It had more to do with the individual or individuals that created it.

I was unaware of copyright situations alongside potential influence against educational curriculum towards personal gain from the benefits of podcast. Podcast make structured curriculum available outside of class time. The videos engage the students to get involve and assists with the content misunderstood. It's an awesome way for educators to get involved and to further engage the students to become equally involved.
I tunes University:

i Pod's in Instruction
IPod is instruction is a curriculum I took great pleasure in learning about. I especially enjoyed how it was a helpful tool for special need kids. It restored self-esteem and a way to learn a difficult content and gain understanding. The IPod enables the ability to replay materials when not understood and lacking an essential element to the curriculum. Students are able to listen to educational audio files while walking the mall or watching an educational video while sitting at the doctor's office. The audio version available with an IPod helps those students with hearing and cognitive disability.
Duke University began a first year IPod generation for entering freshmen. I challenge the concept only by stating although the IPod's are preloaded student are tech savy and will find a way to erase Duke's content and reload the IPod with what is of more of interest.Click Hereto read the article about Duke University first generation of IPod's. I feel that the IPod's were useful to Jr. and Sr. honor students. Those students deserve the perks and at the time in their collegiate career one can appreciate the advantages of an IPod both academically and personally.

Wikipedia will never be a trusted source site. I was always told by college professor's not to use this as an reference and never quite understood why. I thought until this homework assignment that it was a great source of reference. From the two articles and podcast I understand that someone can always edit information. The only thing that will change as time progress is the history to whom make the wiki information changes. I would pose a question if I was ever present during this conversation. Who established Wikipedia and why was the source open to individual edits?
"What I've Learned this Year"
Awesome summary of a first year teacher. It made me recall my first year of teaching and he actually thought more in depth than me. Curriculum should be student based. It makes it more enjoyable for the class and a joy for you the teacher. Interaction and absorption is what we as educator's crave. I love that my students trusted me. They told me more things that at times I did not want to hear.
Communication is a great tactic to absorb yet in a realistic world not all adults know how to communicate. Some people take directness as a superior attack instead of a mature attempt to solve a situation. There are no perfect teachers is what this blogger summarized. I agree. Teaching is a craft and each student, each year, each school is a different project to conquer. Overall, I loved this blog. No matter the task this teacher realizes his career was not at all about him. It was all about what would he contribute to the future of this world.

A Worldwide Audience for six year old's was interesting. I could see how children would like to interact with other kids via internet simply because my son adores while enjoys a computer. I could see the kids learning to speak different languanges and the diversity of ethnicity. Yet, my question is how do the educators equally engage the parents to become involved?

Now I am listening to teacher's podcast and I am still at a lost. It sounds like educator's discussing technology and traditional classrooms. I gone step out and proclaim pod cast's are audio documentation or audio notes. Individuals are moving away from writing and making audio documentation. Do I assume correct?
Oh snap, I have an I phone and according to the teacher's podcast there is an app. Wooohooooo! Now I only have to have Dr. Strange or Mr. Sullivan to enlighten me of the purpose for Pod-cast's. Is it for recording.
The teaching with smart board I thought would do some explaining for me however it did not. I am very tactile and visual. I still assume that pod-cast's are audio tutorial, audio notes or whatever one may need it to be.This will definitely require a lot of questions on my part and I plan to submit my question to my instructors via twitter.

Danielle McQuieter's EDM 310 Blog Assignment
I seriously became elated while reading this post by Mrs. Hines. I completey agreed with innovating teaching. I concur with being a learner while being a teacher. The students of the 21st century are born in a technological age. There are so many tools that come natural to our youth. However, I became fustrated because I feel like Mrs. Hines is not speaking for a realistic educational view. I have been in the school system for five years. In the five years I have done everything from video conferencing with a school 60 miles away to wiring a webcam. In the mist of those two projects my students were very helpful.
When school systems become excited with new technology you always have the veteran teachers whom do not agree. Mrs. Hines did not touch on this matter and it is what makes the inivative tools difficult to incorporate into a school. Most veteran teachers are afraid to except the new avenues to teaching. The older teachers find no need and see nothing wrong with the old avenues of education. All in all you have a large amount of tenured teachers who find no need to learn while they teach. This Mrs. Hines is what saddens me. I feel in order to make your thoughts a reality you need a educational system of young educators.

Jan. 17 Blog Assignment
The Did You Know film actually was creepy. First and foremost the United States is so far behind. Yet we ponder on the notion of Indonesians' making a better living for their lives in our country than we can. Its only because their better equipped in every way. I feel the United States create less babies only because we can not afford a house full of kids. Other countries re running circles around us in population because its safe to say these other countries can provide a lot more than the U.S.
Technology has taken over existence! It will progress as the years grow and that is not a good thing for us humans. Technology to a certain extinct makes us a lazy. This within itself supports why more companies are ran electronically and demand very little labor. The lack there of need for labor limits employment which again is a flaw for the United States. The film forced me to read but more so forced me to become enlighten. May I add the spooky end of the world did not help! I reconsider my second degree because the information I am learning during Spring Semester 2010 will be outdated information in the next three years. Seriously, education has got to find the progessive way.
Mr. Winkle wakes is a preminiton of the future I take it. Meaning, if we don't stay current on technologic trends then at some point we will feel extremely left behind. The basis of education is the same. Teachers format their classroom very much like it was formatted since the beginning of the 19th century. However, while the basis may remain familiar the concepts differ.
Mr. Winkle represent the older generation joining the new. My father, whom is 58 years old finds little need in a Iphone but enjoys learning different software on the computer. I constantly inform my father that the Iphone and the computer are very much, hand in hand. My grandmother, whom is 73 years of age will not attempt to use the computer or a smart phone. The technological age frightens my grandmother and she opts out of using and quickly passes down to the grandkids. Mr. Winkle represents my granny. The world for Mr. Winkle 100 years later was too much for an old man to adapt.
2. Sir Ken Robinson: The Importance of Creativity
This is absolutely the most hilarious film. I had to watch it twice only because I laughed endlessly during the first show. Educating kids out of their creativity is an astounding thought. I asked myself why don't we as educators welcome alternate ideas once we receive what we percieve a wrong idea. We educate our students in one way, from the waist up. Educators become so focused on intelligence that we subtract out the other important factors. Ken Robinson supports this notion throughout his presentation.
Suddenly degrees don't amount to much. Its only because we have to radically revaluate our interpretaion of intelligence. As an educator I need to celebrate what each individual student is good at doing. Robinson influenced me to promote confidence and to assure my student whom may not be great in Math but to notify that student of what he/she is good at establishing and completing. The best thing about this film is it was a confirmation to my spirit. My son was suggested by his teachers and doctor to be medicated. This medication is to calm my son of course. Ken Robinson said something beautiful during this film that calmed me tremendously. Some people have to move to think! This was in reference to Gillian Lynn. I know understand that we as educators have to educate the student's whole being so that their able to face a future we might not see but they will. Awesome Film.
3. Harness Your Student's Digital Smarts
Edutopia is a great way to title this film. You think of Utopia as a better world with more peace and less violence. I think just the same in regards to edutopia; a world complete with better education. I acknowledge the teachers' ability to expose her class to new technologic ideas even if she was not sure of how or when to operate the software.
Georgia's education system allowed the students to work in teams and educate one another. As a mother of a five year old I have come to support that other kids are a better educational avenue than an actual teacher. Students relate to their peers as instant, intrinsic motivators. I think Georgia has a good thing evolving by exposing the rural area to the world and the advance way of obtaining technological data.
